Why The Penguin?
The Oregonian (Oregon being the state where Linus Torvalds - the creator of Linux - lives and works) ran a small little article with some random thoughts of Linus’ in it. It’s whimsical and gives you a little insight into Linus’ mind.
The most important question answered in my mind is why Linus picked Tux the Penguin as a mascot:
“The reason for the penguin is that if you’re going to have a logo you need to have something that’s exciting. I mean, you can’t have a cat or a dog as a logo. Because it’s too everyday.”
