From OS/2 To Linux

IBM has officially announced that they will cease production of their operating system, OS/2, and support for it will cease at the end of 2006.

I used OS/2 for several years on my home computer in the early 90’s, but had to give it up because there was no real software or support for it. Strangely, even though it was backed by Big Blue, the days of OS/2 seem eerily like the current days with Linux. Except with less software.

Apparently IBM thinks so too because their migration page recommends that OS/2 users migrate to Linux.

Good choice!
