The Weeks Ahead
As some of you may know, Kelly Penguin Girl and I are going on vacation shortly. Never fear - there will be a show every week - you’ll hardly notice that we’re gone!
We’ve been braining ourself to death podcasting the nights away in order to squirrel away enough shows to cover us while we’re gone. Here’s the line up for the next few weeks:
- Week of August 15th: DigiKam
- Week of August 22nd: My interview with Marcel Gagne, the author of Moving to Linux 2nd Edition: Kiss the Blue Screen of Death Goodbye!
- Week of August 29th: My interview with Richard Stallman on the GNU Project, GNU/Linux, and the Free Software Foundation
I also have a special edition show that I recorded today. There’s been some questions on the show forums about how to double-boot an existing Windows machine so you can run GNU/Linux and Windows. I’ve always been under the impression that most modern GNU/Linux distros will automatically resize your existing Windows partition and install itself alongside.
I was doing that exact task this morning - installing Kubuntu alongside an existing Windows XP - and thought it would be a good idea to record it. Well, I can’t believe how bizarre the whole thing turned out. I ended up going through 5 distros before finding one that worked. Anyhow, I recorded the whole thing and there’s some discussion about partitioning and there’s some discussion about setting up my wireless. I hope it’s interesting to some.
I’m not sure when I’m going to put that show up, but I think it’ll be sooner rather than later and it’s not going to be an ‘official’ weekly show so who knows when it’s gonna show up! Make sure that you subscribe to the show’s RSS feed to ensure that you don’t miss it!
