KDE Kicker Hacks.

I just got off the phone with Aaron SiegoSeigo (sorry dude!), VP of Partying and Team Lead for the KDE Plasma project.

Our chat will be on an upcoming show, number 18 I do believe, but I wanted to share a little tidbit with you all right away.

If you’re comfortable with editing text files, you might be interested in some KDE Kicker hacks that Jessica Hall, Docugoddess and Plasma website administrator for the Plasma project, has posted on her site.

Kconfig XT is a framework for applications configuration data. It centers around a group of XML files that contain information about configuration options in a single location.

How does this affect end users?

In an application such as Kicker there are currently a wealth of configuration options that aren’t revealed in the graphical interface. The kcfg xml files can give us an insight into the configuration options we can modify directly in the application’s rc file.
