Spaces.
Just a quick blurb that may or may not be necessary.
I recently had a show listener stop by my personal blog. I’m sure that there is more than the one of you that stop by there now and again, but this one of the first comments I received on my personal blog from a show listener.
In the post in question, I was critiquing the Firefox browser. Without turning this into a rant, let’s just suffice it to say that I am not a fan of the browser.
This listener disagreed with my position (which is fine and expected) but chose to chastise me for not taking into account my target audience of new GNU/Linux users.
Here’s where the space thing comes into play: I write on three different blogs and every one of them has their own flavour. This blog compliments the podcast in that most (hopefully all) of the information posted on here is of interest to new GNU/Linux users.
I’m also one of the technology bloggers over on Jurgle. My posts on that blog are very narrowly targetted towards technology in general.
Since my primary interests in life are technology and GNU/Linux, that leaves my personal blog as a place to be myself. My personal blog is an extension of myself as surely as this blog or the podcast is, but I don’t write on my blog with the same people in mind. All listeners from this show are more than welcome to stop by, comment, agree, disagree, rant, whatever, on my personal blog, but there shouldn’t be any expectation that it’s another blog aimed at new GNU/Linux users. It’s my space and it has a totally different tone and content than this blog.
Heck, sometimes I even swear over there!
I hope that makes sense.
