Test Machine Fundraiser Over.
A big thanks to all that contributed towards the test machine fundraiser on Fundable.org. Unfortunately not enough money was raised, so that means no test machine to Kelly Penguin Girl and me.
On the lighter side, this means that everyone who contributed gets their money back :)
I’ve actually done some re-wiring of my house over the past month that may make it possible to get something up and limping anyhow. I’ll keep you all posted.

Hello again Jon,
I didn’t contribute to the test machine fund [my bad] , but I might be able to assist you if you would be willing to build your own. I have enough new, unused parts to put one to
gether . E-mail me off blog for more details .

Hi Guys,
Wow - thanks for the offers. Here’s how things stand right now: when I stated the fundraiser, my house was entirely wireless and the router was in the middle of the house. I have a computer carcass sitting around that is 90% suitable for a test machine. It needed some RAM and, because of the router situation, a wireless NIC.
In the past few months while the fundraiser was going on, I rewired bits of my network and now the router is much closer to the proposed test machine. On the RAM side of things, it looks like I’ll be able to get some from a member of the local Calgary LUG.
So, all in all it seems like the problem has kind of rectified itself and I should be able to get a half-decent test machine up and running despite the Fundable campaign failing.
Now I just need to find the time to put it all together….
Thanks for the offers and interest, though. If something falls through I will definitely come knocking on your doors :)
