Show #19 Update.

I’ve been having a ‘distro from hell’ week here in Camp Linux. Due to that, show #19 is going to be a little late. I’ve got the show complete and am converting it into MP 3 and OGG as we speak, but I won’t have time to do the show notes tonight.

I’m hoping to get the show notes done tomorrow and post the show, but it actually might be as late as Wednesday. I know this is crappy timing after the delay in show #18 due to server upgrades, but I’m doing the best I can.

Thanks for understanding, and hang tight…it’ll be up as soon as I can put it there.

Hey Jon, no worries, your shows are a great gift to new Linux users and so no worries…

BTW, what exactly did you mean ‘distro from hell?’ and I really hope you’re not referring to suffering caused by the latest OpnSuSe? :)

    Thanks Mark!

    Ahhh..distro hell.

This all stems to my lack o’ test machine (soon to be rectified!). I have this little niggling thing called a conscience. Normally my conscience is of great help to me, but in some cases it is a hinderance. In this case, it is a hinderance.

I figure that since I host a show on GNU/Linux that there’s some responsibility on my part to try out different distros every few months. It’d be nice to stick with good old Kanotix for the foreseeable future, but I don’t think that does my listeners any good, especially when I start to lose my Gnome and RPM skills.

However, since I am ’sans test machine’ (soon to be rectified!) that means I have to try these different distros on my main machine. In many cases, the distro du jour doesn’t work out for me and causes me all sort of problems that, since we’re talking about my primary machine here, slow me down and annoy the heck out of me.

That, my friend, is ‘distro hell’ :)
