All the issues that you highlighted in this episode boil down to that. You run it and then a cursor blinks at you for 45 minutes and then you've downloaded 700 MBs. Any program should show something on the screen if it takes longer than 2 seconds. If a file is taking long or you don't want to download it you can't cancel it because you can't see what's going on much less interact with it once it's started. I was using BPConf for awhile and that actually is satisfactory, although it's KDE and I use Ubuntu and initially it wouldn't compile but Leon helped me with that so that actually wasn't an issue. But in the end I still couldn't interact with downloads or see how far they reached. That's the main reason i stopped using Bashpodder in favour of CastPodder which is what they call iPodder for linux now. It takes hella long to load but say what, my machine sucks anyways. I didn't look at the user contributed upgrades though because i'm too lazy. You click on the link and it's a list of the peoples' names who've contributed not an actual html page, although I'm sure that everything I'm complaining about has already been solved one way or another, such as bashpodder for ipod ( although I just checked the url and i get an sql error so whatever) My problem with Baspodder is that it doesn’t give any kind of feedback. Only problem is that you have to pick the podcasts you want before it downloads. With iPodder and the like, you can set it up so that the programs download to your computer automatically.
