What’s Coming Up?

Show #23 will be going up within the next 24 hours. Kelly and I take a look at Klik.
Show#24 will contain a talk with myself and Robin Miller of the Open Source Technology Group (OSTG). Robin has a new book out titled Point & Click OpenOfficeorg. Some of you may recognize that the OSTG is responsible for thjings like Slashdot and Sourceforge. I’ll post some tidbits Robin has given me over the next few days.

Just wondering about the participation of Calgary’s Linux User Group members in the GNU/Linux podcast …. can you tell me more?
Who is involved? On a regular basis? What particular topics of Canadian content might be explored in the show?
There may be an item for the RWLB newsletter here, which prompts my inquiry.
As well, please be aware that the next LinuxWorldCanada show is schedule and coming up, along with a cross Canada road tour to your city?

Hi Lee,
Thanks for stopping by! In short, there is no real affiliation between The GNU/Linux User Show and the CLUG. Here’s the areas where we touch: I am a member of the CLUG (but admittedly suck at getting out to meetings); I have had two members of the CLUG on the show to discuss GPG and KDE respectively; I am tentatively slated to speak at an upcoming CLUG event.
That’s it. We certainly talk all the time about ideas and how we can help each other out and the Shawn Grover (Pres of the CLUG) and friends have been absolutely fantastic about supporting the show. I’d say we have a good relationship, but we’re not ‘affiliated’ in the way that you’re probably asking.
Who is involved on a regular basis? If you mean who is on the show on a regular basis that would only be Kelly and I.
Canadian content: I’ve never really considered this to a great depth, but my first answer would be that Canadian content may receive slightly higher billing than international content, but that’s only due to us being Canadian rather than any sober thought about it. Podcasting provides the opportunity for new GNU/Linux users all over the globe to benefit (hopefully) from the show and therefore I don’t see any real benefit to focussing on anything geographical - Canadian or otherwise.
Your question did prompt me to look at the geographical stats for the show, though, and it turns out that Canada is fourth in the list of countries that listen to us. Interesting…
The Linux World Canada show is coming to Calgary? I don’t see a Calgary date on the website, only a Toronto one…?

Aha! A little deeper looking on my part turned up this:
LOT2006 begins in Montreal May 8-9, Ottawa May 10-11, and Calgary May 15-16, wrapping up in Vancouver, May 17-1
So..it *is* coming to Calgary. Yay!
