This topic won’t die, but I don’t really want it to. The discussion about whether it’s stupid, smart, or inconsequential to run as the superuser for day-to-day operations is always interesting. To me, anyhow.

It came up again today in the show forums and there was some good (albeit only two-way) discussion about it.

I’m going to post an entry on this topic tomorrow on New Linux User to get people talking about it. I’m not going to try to contain the conversation in any one place. Feel free to comment here, on the show forums, and on New Linux User. I’ll try to participate in all conversations.
